Elder Tree and cadet
Seed and Tree
By: D. Evan McCormick

Thoughts
No doubt you have heard the popular story told to new cadets. It is used as a warning. It goes something like this. There was a cadet during the wars in the age of will. The age of our ancestors when space was organized into directions. At that time there were only ten directions a thought controlled space craft could move.
This cadet was close to perfect. Thought of forward upward and the craft did just so. Thought down and backward and the craft did just so. Thought counter spin, as expected it did just so. Productive spin and the craft did just so. Side to side, down, opened ports, closed ports and as you know, the craft did just so. All the combination this cadet did just so. A perfect score. A perfect student.
You probably recall this cadet was first class honors. Graduated and managed a team. Yet again, did just so. Then suddenly, rebelled. Took a fleet and a continental craft and turned on SUN LABS.
Destroyed the blue ray galaxies. Find out this cadet was secretly aligned with the amalgam squids who you will remember were intelligent bots who fought against the military corporations.
The warning is told over and over again, perfect scores don’t mean perfect, they mean what? Yes, they don’t reveal intent of perfection. It is a story our teachers have told countless times as an excuse to question your thoughts, not the direction of your thoughts.
Yeah yeah, a perfect direction isn’t a mark of a great commander. It is where the thought generates from, it’s source producing the product. How boring. How untrue. Yes, true in the way of looking at how a source can be hidden. A thought can be perfectly executed yet can also come from a distorted source. A generator of thought can be corrupt and yet produce remarkable direction. A control of thought can inflict harm, death and violence.

Boring. I agree. You know it is boring, You have found that teachers use this adage to grill your source of where thoughts generate. I want to say this story with what happened. I was there. I was a commander who fought against this amazing cadet who surprised all our other commanders in a travel craft. No one could maneuver like this cadet. Or catch this cadet. That is, until I did something. I changed my control of thought. It is a very very old old old word. You know I like to use ancient terms and here is one now, audacity. It comes from the age when tongues rounded air into syllables. Sound puntuated by roots of meaning. Audacia, what a sound right? Bold. Then add the sound 'ity', which turns the boldness into a quality. Bold quality. Bold is better as daring. Putting your life in danger.
You can die, so you dare the experience. You can hurt, you can fall, you can fail, you can injure yourself, so you dare.
I did just so. I put my thoughts in the hands of daring. I let my source of loyalty to myself go, in the fire, in the past and stayed with this rebellious spy. They moved and I moved. I matched their directions and eventually met the cadet in lunar star station. Took my craft and matched every movement. My source generator was confused, yet I kept saying to my safety program, dare to try.
